Boy, this group likes to complain. Or should I say, “bitch and complain”? (According to Bill, men bitch and women complain. Bill was feeling no pain tonight.) “This sucks, that sucks. The Padres suck. Your poker play sucks. Omaha sucks. Work sucks.” Just “suck” it up and enjoy yourselves. It’s Card Night!
Actually, Bill had just come from Happy Hour, and he seemed to be enjoying himself quite a bit. On one hand of Texas Hold ’em Hi-Lo Declare, it was just Paul and Bill left at the end. Bill just turned his cards over without declaring. When we reminded him it was Hi-Lo Declare, he announced, “I’m going high, Paul’s going low, we just split it!” No excuses, no admission that he’d messed up; the hand was over and Bill wanted his half! Paul agreed to split the pot.
Jackpot was decimated thanks to two payouts on the last game of the night, Happy Pineapple. Mike won $12.50 with four 10s, and Lyndon won $10.25 with a straight flush. Combine those with Paul’s earlier $16.00 win with four 8s in Omaha Hi-Lo, and jackpot now stands at a measly $3.00.
As Paul continued to stockpile chips on his way to an $82.00 win, Violet asked Mark DeVol if Paul ever loses.
Mark said, “Not only does he sometimes lose, but he holds the record for the biggest loss in a single night. However, he also holds the record for the biggest win in a single night.”
Mike then said, “I thought Mike Coyne held the record for biggest win.”
“No,” said Mark. “Don’t you remember? Paul had that huge $256.00 win earlier this year? It was the same night Mary lost $185.00.”
Mike didn’t remember it, even though he was there. Then Lyndon said, “I don’t remember that either. Was I there?” Yep, Lyndon was there too.
