Card Night 24-Feb-2011

Bill was a no-show tonight, and a call to his mobile phone went to voice mail.  Could he be out of the country?

A round of Four-Three that Mary called went on for some time, but the pot never got very big.  That’s because a lot of hands were heads-up, and one of the players would end up scooping.

Mark D +$42.00
Mary ‑$94.00
Paul ‑$23.00
Phil +$55.00
Jeff +$22.00
Glen +$9.00

Card Night 17-Feb-2011

It was all Jeff tonight.

Hand after hand, the call at showdown was “Jeff scoops!”  Sometimes he had a monster.  Other times he had a mediocre hand, but it was still the best hand.  Razz, Omaha, Texas Hold ’em; the game didn’t matter.  Jeff dominated.

By the end of the night, he had won $184.00.  It was his best Card Night ever, almost doubling his previous biggest win.  It also goes down as the seventh biggest Card Night win by anyone ever.

Jeff is now up $18.00 for the year.

Speaking of winners, tonight was Bill’s third Card Night of the year, and his third win.  He is the current 2011 leader, up $195.00.

Mike Stefanidis had to leave early to move some of his family’s garbage into his neighbors’ garbage cans.

Mark D ‑$49.00
Paul ‑$93.00
Phil ‑$98.00
Bill +$76.00

Card Night 10-Feb-2011

Things didn’t get too wild when we played Four-Three, although there did seem to be more scoops than usual.

Warren scooped with 10-high for low and trip 10s for high.

Mark DeVol had an unlikely scoop with 8-high for low and just a pair of 7s for high… against three other opponents!

Bill’s 2011 continued in the right direction as he was the big winner tonight.

Warren broke his slump of six consecutive losses with a nice $24.00 win.

Mark D ‑$21.00
Mary ‑$46.00
Paul +$9.00
Warren +$24.00
Phil ‑$73.00
Bill +$70.00
Glen +$19.00

Card Night 03-Feb-2011

Mark DeVol introduced enhanced poker chips that featured Card Night players’ pictures in the design.

Paul seemed to like them, but he said he didn’t care for the white color of the one-dollar chips.  He said he had gotten used to the black one-dollar chips.

Mark pointed out that they weren’t new chips.  They were the same chips we’ve been using for five years, just with players’ pictures now on them.  The one-dollar chips have been white for five years.

During a round of Happy Pineapple (Crazy Pineapple Hi-Lo Declare), Mary made four-of-a-kind jacks, but she did not win jackpot because one of the jacks was in the hole and the other three were on the board.   (Recall that the Omaha jackpot rule also applies to Pineapple, i.e., two of the four-of-a-kind must be the player’s hole cards.)  However, that rule doesn’t apply to straight flushes, and moments later, still playing Happy Pineapple, Paul made a king-high straight flush with just the queen of hearts in the hole.

Mark D +$27.00
Mary +$111.00
Paul ‑$6.00
Phil $0.00
Jeff ‑$35.00
Lyndon ‑$44.00
Glen ‑$43.00
