The Curse of Warren’s Chair
Mark DeVol sat in Warren’s chair tonight and lost $8.00. Yes, it wasn’t a big loss, but it was a loss nonetheless.
Who amongst us has the power to survive the Curse of Warren’s Chair?
Everyone at Card Night has his or her own “effect.”
For example, The Paul Effect is when everybody believes Paul has garbage, so they throw as much money in the pot as they can, giving Paul a huge payoff when he has the winning hand.
Some other effects:
The Bill Effect: Bill raises pre-flop with a small pair, bets it aggressively all the way to the river even when there are overcards on the board and he doesn’t have a set, and then complains when he doesn’t win the pot.
The Warren Effect: A player will bet into Warren on the river and be relieved when Warren just calls. That player will then be horrified when Warren turns over the stone cold nuts.
The Mary Effect: Mary will bet and raise so that Paul will ultimately win a big pot (see The Paul Effect).
The Lyndon Effect: When there’s no concern on Lyndon’s face or in his voice, you should fold.
The Mark Effect: When Mark DeVol thinks that you’ve made a mistake, God help you.
The Mike Effect: Kill. Kill! KILL!
