Card Night 29-Jul-2014

In the history of Card Night, there have only been three instances where the board in a Texas Hold ’em-based game ended up with four of a kind or better, resulting in two people splitting a jackpot win.

The first time was years ago when Paul and Mark Huyser split jackpot after the board showed four 10s on the river.

The second and third times happened last week and tonight respectively.

Last week Mary and Jason split jackpot when the board made a straight flush in Happy Pineapple.

Tonight, again in Happy Pineapple, Bill and Lyndon split jackpot when the board made four 9s.

Bill and Lyndon also broke Mike Stefanidis’ long-standing record for smallest jackpot win.  They each won $1.25.  (Mike’s record was $1.50.)

Card Night 22-Jul-2014

Straight flush-a-palooza.

It started when the board made a 6-high straight flush in Happy Pineapple.  Mary and Jason were both still in the hand at showdown, so they split the jackpot ($8.75 each).

Next came Mark Paramo’s first ever jackpot win when he made the steel wheel in Omaha Hi-Lo ($5.50).

Chris then made a 10-high straight flush in Buck ’em, using the community card we had to deal as everyone’s seventh card ($2.00).

And finally, Mark DeVol made a 10-high straight flush in Stud 8 ($2.50).

Four separate straight flushes in four different games for a total of five jackpot payouts in one night.

Card Night 15-Jul-2014

We welcomed a new Mark to the game tonight: Mark Paramo.  Mark is now the most common player name in the history of Card Night.  There have been three players named Mark (four if you count Marc Phillips).

Mark had a good first night, winning $10.00, thanks to Lyndon calling Five and Two as the last game of the night.  (Mark cleaned up on the game; Lyndon got hammered.)

We’ve had back-to-back jackpot wins before.  That is, a player has won jackpot on a hand, followed by another player winning jackpot on the very next hand.

However we’ve never had back-to-back-to-back jackpot wins before.

Until tonight.

On three consecutive hands of Happy Pineapple, jackpot was won.

First was Jason with four 8s ($32.00).  Next was Mark DeVol with four 7s ($16.25).  And finally was Bill with four kings ($8.25).  This after going over a month with nobody winning jackpot.
