It looked like we were going to be short on players tonight, so Bill invited his friend Chris to join us. Chris showed up on time, but Bill was forty minutes late. And when Bill finally walked through the door, the table was already full with eight players! We offered to make room for him, but Bill said he would just go meet some friends for drinks. (We think he secretly wanted to do that more than play poker anyway.)
Chris is a member of Bill’s other home game, and had no problem settling into our routine. He won $37.00.
Both Dave and Glen had their worst Card Nights ever.
Dave lost $88.00. Previously his worst loss had been $55.00 (on 12-Mar-2013).
Glen lost $132.00. Previously his worst loss had been $108.00 (on 22-Nov-2011).
Meanwhile, Jeff won $179.00 tonight, catapulting him into first place for 2013. He’s won $706.00 for the year.

The subject turned to politics tonight, and Jason started arguing that San Diego Mayor Bob Filner shouldn’t be ostracized for his recently-revealed behavior around women. The rest of us listened to him with dropped jaws, not quite believing what we were hearing.
When he was finished, we all let loose with a barrage of disapproval.
After the smoke cleared, it became clear that Jason did not know the extent of the allegations against Filner. He didn’t know that there was any physical contact between Filner and his accusers. Jason had heard that Filner had just made some inappropriate comments.
Once he heard about all the touching and groping and headlocking, Jason recanted.
Oh, and he won an $11.00 jackpot tonight.

The last time we played was on July 10. There was no other Card Night during July. This marks the first time in Card Night history that we played only once during a single calendar month.
Apollo was the first game of the night, and amazingly, both Bill and Jeff made the wheel on their last cards. They split the pot for both high and low.
Miguel had his best Card Night ever, posting a $199.00 win.
