Card Night 26-Jan-2010

Not much money has exchanged hands the last couple weeks.  Tonight the losers sent only $64.00 to the winners, and last week it was only $91.00.  (The average is around $160.00.)

And during these two sessions nobody won nor lost more than $48.00.  (The average is around $90.00.)

Some were speculating that the reason is because neither Mary nor Bill were here the last two sessions.  There was no Buck ’em, no big raises, no fireworks.

We had the Australian Open on the TV in the background.  The featured match was Serena Williams vs. Victoria Azarenka.  Azarenka makes a loud shriek-grunt-screech every time she hits the ball, so that kept us amused.

Card Night 19-Jan-2010

Ty called Seven-Card Stud Roll Your Own (where a player’s lowest hole card is wild and all like it), and Mike bet the maximum on each street after showing a 4 as a door card.  At the end, it was down to just Mike and Jason, and Mike had two 4s showing.  Mike bet, and Jason considered folding, but eventually called.

Jason won with a royal flush he didn’t know he had.

Card Night 12-Jan-2010

After the turn on a hand of Omaha Hi-Lo, it came down to just Paul and Mark DeVol.  The board was A-10-J-5.  Paul bet, and Mark called.  The river was an 8.  Again, Paul bet, and Mark called.  Paul showed Q-9-x-x for a straight.  Mark mucked his cards, declaring he’d just had two pair.

As Paul was collecting the pot, someone asked Mark, “You didn’t have a low?”

“Uh oh,” said Mark as he retrieved his cards from the muck.  He flipped them up: A-10-7-3.  If he hadn’t mucked his cards, his 7-3 would have given him low.  (Paul had no low.)

Nothing too exciting to kick off 2010, unless you count Jason’s huge win.  $129.00.  He’s on pace to win over $6,700.00 for the year.  (Gotta love those “on pace to” stats.)
