Card Night 25-Nov-2008

Bill took a page from Paul’s book tonight, buying in four times, but then coming back to win $8.00 for the night.  And Paul followed suit, buying in three times, but then coming back to win $29.00 for the night.  Of course both of them did plenty of whining along the way.

Paul’s comeback seemed to hurt Glen more than others.   In Omaha Hi-Lo, Glen kept making lower full houses than Paul’s.

On one Omaha Hi-Lo hand, Warren was ready to scoop the high half of the pot when Paul turned to Bill and said, “You’ve got a flush!”  Bill hadn’t noticed because he was watching the Kansas/Syracuse basketball game (which Syracuse won in OT).

Mark D +$33.00
Mary ‑$25.00
Paul +$29.00
Warren +$18.00
Bill +$8.00
Glen ‑$79.00

Card Night 18-Nov-2008

Bill got off to a bad start tonight, so he called Buck ’em early on to try to recoup.  He did end up winning the game with a $40.50 pot (minus $13.50 he had to pay Mark DeVol along the way), but it wasn’t enough to prevent him from having his worst night in over a year: -$109.00.

Paul and Lyndon continue to be the hot players.  Both have won eight out of the last ten times they’ve attended Card Night.  Paul had a particularly good night raking in almost one hundred dollars. He’s on par to win over a thousand for the year.

Mary’s consecutive Card Night losses finally ended at eleven after a $13.00 win tonight.

Mark D ‑$12.00
Mary +$13.00
Paul +$98.00
Phil +$16.00
Bill ‑$109.00
Lyndon +$35.00
Jason ‑$56.00
Glen ‑$2.00

Card Night 11-Nov-2008

People were folding the best hand on the river tonight.

Jason folded the nut straight in Texas Hold ’em, fearing Paul had a flush.  (Turns out Paul had the same straight.)

With a board that had two 6s on it, Mike folded pocket jacks when Paul bet and Jason called.  (Paul had pocket 10s, Jason didn’t show his hand.)

Once again, Paul had a big comeback after initially being down for the night.  Buck ’em was particularly good for him; on one hand he was dealt A-2-Joker.

Buck ’em was not so good for John.  On the first round of a hand, he went in high with a pair of 10s and was called by Bill (kings) and Paul (aces) costing him $40.50.

Mark D ‑$2.00
Paul +$31.00
Bill +$38.00
John ‑$49.00
Lyndon +$41.00
Jason +$11.00
Mike S ‑$12.00
Glen ‑$74.00

Card Night 04-Nov-2008

Election night brought with it a flurry of thought-provoking and intelligent conversations about all things politic.  Our Card Night group is so insightful!

Jason took the redistribution-of-wealth concept a little too far by giving up one hundred of his hard-earned dollars to the group.  That after winning a $25.25 jackpot!

Paul was the harbinger of change, raking in so many pots that players were constantly asking him to change up their five-dollar chips.

Nebraska turned out to be a swing state, with Omaha providing some of the most exciting highs and lows of the night.  (All right.  That one was weak.)

Mark D +$26.00
Paul +$112.00
Lyndon +$13.00
Jason ‑$100.00
Mike S ‑$3.00
Glen ‑$27.00
