Bill won a $55.75 jackpot early in the night when he hit quad 7s in Omaha Hi-Lo.
And that was just the beginning.
Bill couldn’t lose as he scooped pot after pot to finish the night up $311.00, a new Card Night record. (The previous record was held by Phil who won $306.00 on 07-Jun-2012.)
Bill needed the big win, as he has been one of the big losers for the year. (He is still down $147.00 for 2013.)
On a hand of Stud 8, Mark DeVol made a 6-high straight on his first five cards. This was a huge hand in Stud 8, and was very likely to scoop the pot. At the very least it would win half.
Mark bet out on all the subsequent streets.
After the last card had been dealt, only Mark, Bill, and Mary were left. Mark bet. Bill called. Mary raised.
Mary looked like she might be raising with a flush, or with a decent low. Mark thought for a bit, and figuring he was “guaranteed” at least half of the pot, he re-raised.
Bill and Mary both called.
Mark proudly turned over his monster Stud 8 hand. Bill turned over two pair.
Then Mary turned over her hand. A-2-4-5-6-7-8. She had an 8-high straight, and a 6-5-4-2-A low.
Mary scooped the huge pot.
