Card Night 28-Apr-2011

Paul made quad 10s to win a $55.00 jackpot on a hand of Texas Hold ’em tonight.  With that jackpot win, Paul passes Mike Stefanidis as the leader in jackpot money won:

  • Paul: $1,392.25
  • Mike: $1,373.00

Paul and Mike are now tied for the number of jackpot wins at 70.

A round of Buck ’em late in the evening helped Glen and Mary turn potentially losing nights into winning ones.  The game lasted for quite some time, and the pot grew higher than $70.00.

Mark D ‑$13.00
Mary +$58.00
Paul +$92.00
Phil +$39.00
Bill ‑$54.00
Jeff ‑$79.00
Mike S ‑$79.00
Glen +$74.00

Jackpot is now $66.00.

Card Night 21-Apr-2011

Lots of big pots helped Bill to his second best Card Night ever: +$161.00.  (His best Card Night was back on 10-Jun-2008 when he won $172.00.)

Glen also had a big night winning $104.00.  (He scooped two consecutive hands of $2-$4 Stud 8 when he made the wheel and then made a 6-high straight.)  He’s won over $100.00 in each of the last three Card Nights he has attended, something no one has done before.

Mark D ‑$11.00
Mary ‑$95.00
Paul +$41.00
Bill +$161.00
Jeff ‑$101.00
Miguel ‑$43.00
Mike S ‑$75.00
Glen +$104.00

Jackpot is now $104.00.

Card Night 14-Apr-2011

Mike Stefanidis returned tonight after having missed seven Card Nights in a row.  It’s the most consecutive Card Nights he has ever missed.  Prior to this, the most consecutive Card Nights he had missed was three.

Paul won a $70.25 jackpot when he went runner runner to make four 5s in Omaha High.  However, he only won $32.00 for the night, having lost quite a bit up until hitting his jackpot hand.

Straights were the hard-to-read hands of the night.  First Jeff thought he had a straight in Omaha when he didn’t.  Later, again in Omaha, Bill had a straight and didn’t realize it.

Mark D +$45.00
Mary ‑$116.00
Paul +$32.00
Phil ‑$65.00
Bill ‑$46.00
Jeff +$77.00
Mike S +$22.00
Glen +$102.00

Card Night 04-Apr-2011

Tonight was a Monday session as we got together to watch the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship Game.  In our pool, Mark DeVol had Connecticut, while Bill had Butler.  Connecticut ended up winning the game, but Bill actually won more money in the pool than Mark, thanks to many of Bill’s teams winning earlier in the tournament.

We played for a half hour longer than usual, starting around the same time as the start of the basketball game.  It was only a half hour more, but it seemed to make for a wild night.

It was Glen’s 100th Card Night, and he celebrated by posting his second best winning night ever: +$135.00.

Mark also had a big night, posting a $120.00 win.  A big chunk of that came on a hand of Buck ’em, when Mark beat Jeff on a two-cards-out-of-three round, and then won the game on the subsequent three-cards-out-of-five round; $33.75 each time for a total of $67.50.

Meanwhile, Paul had his second worst Card Night ever, posting a $165.00 loss.  He was making a lot of good hands that ended up being second best.

Despite the wild results, none of the fireworks came from Four-Three.  Pots never got higher than $13.25.  (There was one interesting hand where three players stayed in; Mary made three-of-a-kind, Jeff made a flush, and Paul made a full house. Mary took the low with a 9-high.)

Thanks to the extra half hour, we contributed $22.00 to jackpot.  It now stands at $131.00.  Jackpot fever is officially an epidemic!

Mark D +$120.00
Mary +$16.00
Paul ‑$165.00
Phil ‑$95.00
Bill +$54.00
Jeff ‑$87.00
Glen +$135.00
