Card Night 29-Sep-2010

Several players couldn’t make it Tuesday this week, so tonight we had a Wednesday Card Night.  It was the first time we’ve played on Wednesday since 26-Dec-2007 and 02-Jan-2008 (when we switched nights to avoid Christmas and New Year’s).

Jeff went on a tear, scooping or splitting what seemed like every Omaha Hi-Lo pot.  He was the big winner for the night, the first time he’s held that honor since joining the game a couple months ago.

On the flip side, Paul couldn’t seem to win a pot.  He was stuck for $140.00 before making a respectable comeback late in the game.  Still, he ended up as the big loser for the night.

Jackpot now stands at $77.00, thanks to no one winning for four weeks.

Mark D ‑$9.00
Mary ‑$19.00
Paul ‑$67.00
Phil +$11.00
Jeff +$51.00
Lyndon +$4.00
Glen +$9.00

Card Night 21-Sep-2010

Glen bought us a new set of Kem cards for Card Night.  Kem cards are a little more expensive than Copag cards, and they seem to be better quality.  They should last us a while.

No one won jackpot for the third week in a row.  Jackpot now stands at $57.00

Mark D +$21.00
Mary $0.00
Paul +$72.00
Phil +$12.00
Jeff ‑$100.00
Lyndon +$16.00
Mike S ‑$74.00
Glen +$35.00

Card Night 14-Sep-2010

We had nine players tonight (for the 12th time in recorded Card Night history), and despite some big pots and a couple rounds of Four-Three, the results were quite tame.  Mary was the big winner, taking home $27.00.  (It’s the smallest big win since Glen won $21.00 on 26-Jan-2010.)

Phil ‑$57.00

Jeff +$25.00

Card Night 07-Sep-2010

Glen returned after a two-month hiatus and brought Toblerone chocolate for everyone to celebrate the birth of his son Thomas on August 9.  Congratulations, Glen!

Without Mary, Bill, and Mike Stefanidis in attendance, Four-Three produced yawn-inducing results.  Paul called the game twice, and both times the pot never grew beyond its initial total.

There was an interesting result on one hand.  Jeff and Paul were the last two players to act, and everyone had folded ahead of them.  Jeff declared he was in, and of course Paul declared he was in as well.  They both turned over fantastic starting hands for low, each with a 7-high and an ace in his hand.  Jeff got his remaining three cards and improved to a 6-high for low and just an ace-jack for high.  Although it was unlikely Paul would be able to beat Jeff for low, all Paul had to do was draw a king, a queen, or pair any of his cards and he’d win high.  Paul got his remaining cards, and unbelievably none of them helped.  Paul was playing a 7-high for low, and just an ace-10 for high.  Jeff scooped the pot.  Luckily for Paul, the pot was only $6.75.

Mark DeVol called Stud 8 tonight, which is Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo where the low has to be 8-high or lower.  It seemed to be popular with the group and produced some pretty big pots.

Mark D +$45.00
Paul ‑$42.00
Warren ‑$72.00
Phil ‑$15.00
Jeff +$24.00
Lyndon +$16.00
Glen +$25.00
