Random facts:

• Mary won the Football Pool this week.  She holds the all-time record for most pots won and most money won in our pool.
• Ty joined us tonight after more than a year away from the table.
• Jason teased Jeff by dealing him a deuce that was meant for himself.  (Jeff would have had three deuces showing in Stud 8.)
• Mark DeVol’s wife made really good chocolate chip cookies.

Card Night 18-Nov-2014

Mark DeVol had his best Card Night ever, posting a $218.00 win.  Many scooped pots went his way, including a Bingo pot where he discarded all his cards.  He even won the $5.00 quarter showdown at the end of the night.  (Previously Mark’s best Card Night was on 06-May-2014 when he won $209.00.)

Meanwhile, Chris had his worst Card Night ever, posting a $145.00 loss.  The only successful run he had was when he called 2-7 Triple Draw.  His reasoning was, since he was running so cold, why not play a game where you win with the worst hand?  (Previously Chris’s worst Card Night was on 10-Sep-2013 when he lost $134.00.  That was also his first ever losing Card Night.)

Card Night 11-Nov-2014

For the second week in a row, Jeff called $2-$4 Stud 8 with a kill.  If a player scooped a pot, the next hand was played at $4-$8, and the player who scooped had to make the bring-in bet (instead of the player with the lowest card showing), AND he had to complete.  So, he had to put $4 in front of him before any cards were dealt.  (As an additional rule, the player had the option of raising once action got around to him again.)

The game played well… especially if your name was Mary.  She killed the game (pun intended) scooping multiple pots.  It led to her best Card Night ever: +$236.00.  (Previously Mary’s best Card Night was on 28-Jul-2011 when she won $203.00.)

Card Night 04-Nov-2014

As a hand of Omaha Hi-Lo was being dealt, Bill asked, “How much is jackpot?”  It was a little over $65.00.

The flop came 5♦–7♦–8♦.

Chris had 4♦–6♦-x-x in his hand.  He had flopped a straight flush, as if in response to Bill’s question about jackpot.

Meanwhile, Bill had 9♦–10♦-x-x in his hand.  He had flopped a draw to a higher straight flush!

The J♦ never showed, and Chris’s hand held up.  He won his biggest jackpot ever: $49.50.
