Card Night 31-Mar-2015

Wild-card games resulted in some big hands tonight.

On a hand of No-Limit Deuces-Wild Five-Card Draw, Mark DeVol was all-in with a royal flush that beat Chris’s three kings.

On a hand of Wild Cards Going Both Ways, Bill made five jacks to beat Mark’s straight flush.

And big hands weren’t just limited to wild-card games.  On a hand of Texas Hold ’em, John flopped four 8s and just sat back as Glen instigated the betting and two other players limped along to the river drawing dead.

Mark D ‑$31.00
Bill +$198.00
Chris ‑$59.00
John +$62.00
Jason ‑$93.00
Glen ‑$73.00

Jackpot is now $21.00.

Mark DeVol suffered his worst Card Night ever, dropping $137.00.  (Previously his worst night was on 07-Jun-2012 when he lost $115.00.)  Most of that came from Four-Three where he lost back-to-back pots of ~$51.00.

Mike Stefanidis and Paul made their annual appearances tonight to draw teams for the NCAA Basketball Pool.  Entries/Results can be found here.

Card Night 10-Mar-2015

John forgot his wallet tonight.  “No problem.  Just play on credit and make sure you win.”  And that’s what he did.

His winning night was solidified thanks to scooping at least half of all of the pots in the four hands of Bingo we played.  John is currently on a six-Card Night winning streak, a personal record.

Mark D ‑$1.00
Mary ‑$50.00
Bill ‑$170.00
Chris ‑$83.00
Jeff +$96.00
John +$70.00
Lyndon +$89.00
Glen +$32.00

Jackpot is now $31.00.

Card Night 03-Mar-2015

On a hand of Bingo, it came down to Chris, Mark DeVol, and Mary.  Chris had four cards left, Mark had two, and Mary had one.  Chris and Mary had been dictating the betting, and it was clear that Chris was going high and Mary was going low.

At showdown, Mary and Mark both went low.  Mary turned over a 5, while Mark turned over A-2.  Mark had won low.  But Chris let out a groan.  He had inadvertently also declared low!  Unfortunately the Card Night rules state, “The number of chips in a player’s hand will determine which way the player is going, even if he made a mistake and obviously intended to go a different way.”  (Bill and Chris play in another home game where they declare differently from us: no chips for low, 1 chip for high, 2 chips for both ways.  This may or may not have contributed to Chris’s error.)

We’ve all made this mistake before.  It will probably be a long time before Chris makes it again.

Mark D +$47.00
Mary ‑$54.00
Bill ‑$21.00
Chris ‑$43.00
Jeff ‑$94.00
Lyndon +$121.00
Glen +$44.00

Jackpot is now $14.00.
