Card Night 27-Jan-2015

The first game Lyndon calls on any given Card Night is Happy Pineapple.  The second game he calls is Five and Two.

He rarely gets the opportunity to call a third game, but tonight he got his chance with only a few minutes left until our cut-off time of 10:00 p.m.  He called a game named Pyramid.

He explained the game as best he could, but when it came to specific details, he wasn’t quite sure.  After some discussion, he and the rest of us agreed on the rules of the game and the hand was dealt.  During the second betting round, everyone folded to Lyndon and he won a meager pot.  By then it was after 10:00 and the night was finished.

New rule: If you’re calling the last game of the night, make sure you know the rules of that game!

Mark D +$69.00
Chris ‑$24.00
Jeff ‑$173.00
Lyndon ‑$94.00
Jason +$146.00
Glen +$58.00

Jackpot is now $31.00.

Card Night 20-Jan-2015

On a hand of Omaha Hi-Lo, the flop came K♠-Q♠-10♠.  Mary was very pleased when she looked down at her cards and saw A♠-J♠-x-x.  She had flopped a royal.  Unfortunately for Jeff, he had flopped a set of kings and ended up with a full house by the river.  Mary collected a big pot and cleaned out jackpot.

Interestingly, of the eight royal flushes that players have made since we’ve been keeping records, half of them have been spades.

Mark D +$15.00
Mary +$10.00
Chris ‑$102.00
Jeff ‑$13.00
Jason ‑$40.00
Glen +$137.00

Jackpot is now $13.00.

Card Night 06-Jan-2015

At showdown on a hand of Omaha Hi-Lo, Mark DeVol declared, “Two pair, queens and sevens,” and showed his cards.  But on closer inspection, Mark only had a pair of queens, meaning Jason would win the high pot with a pair of aces.

As the chips were being pushed to Jason, Jeff looked at Mark’s hand and said, “Hey, that was my hand!”  Mark had inadvertently picked up Jeff’s mucked hand thinking it was his own.  Mark then turned over his real hand which indeed showed two pair.

Nice slow roll, Mark.

Mark D +$120.00
Mary ‑$148.00
Bill +$208.00
Chris +$2.00
Jeff ‑$75.00
Jason ‑$23.00
Glen ‑$90.00

Jackpot is now $13.00.
