Card Night 19-Dec-2017

Mark DeVol called two December games tonight to close out 2017:

• Six-Card Texas Hold ’em.  We used to play this fairly often, and then it was somewhat forgotten.  Everyone is dealt six cards to start. After the initial betting round, every player divides his six cards into three two-card hands. After the betting round on the flop, all players must discard one of their two-card hands. After the betting round on the turn, all players must discard another one of their two-card hands. Now all players just have two cards, and the game continues just like regular Texas Hold ’em.
• 7-27.

Chris hit four 6s in Omaha Hi-Lo early in the evening, setting off a huge winning streak that ended with him taking home $269.00, a new personal record.  (His previous record was $255.00, set on 2014-Oct-14.)

Mark DeVol called two December games tonight:

• .25-.50-$1.00.
• No Peeky, Last Card Turned Over Is Wild.

In the No Peeky game, Glen turned over four natural jacks (giving him five 8s under the rules of the game) for a $37.00 jackpot.  This helped propel him to his best Card Night ever: +$297.00.  (Previously his best Card Night was earlier this year on 25-Apr-2017 when he won $227.00.)

Card Night 05-Dec-2017

Mark DeVol called four December games tonight:

• The ever popular Follow the Queen.
• Split ’em.  A variant of Texas Hold ’em where each player is dealt four cards.  After the betting round on the flop, the player splits the four cards into two two-card Hold ’em hands.  Play continues just like Hold ’em.  (Chris later called this same game Hi-Lo.)
• Four Queens.  This was a bust.  Whenever any one of the queens showed up in a player’s hand, all other players folded.
• Pass the Buck, Hi-Lo Declare, Buy at the End.  This proved to be popular.  Mark threatened to call the game again in December with hole cards wild.
