Miguel played with us in-person tonight for the first time since the pandemic started. He wasted no time in winning a huge $74.00 jackpot when he made a natural 7♦-8♦-9♦-10♦-J♦ straight flush on a hand of Ty’s 7s.
A few minutes later, Bill Connor and David Danovsky both made four of a kind on the same hand of Drawmaha. (Bill made four 10s using the Omaha board, David made four 4s with his five hole cards.) They each got $7.50 for jackpot.
One final jackpot-adjacent story: Traditionally our stopping time for Card Night is 10:00 p.m., but lately we’ve been playing some games after 10:00. We’ve agreed not to collect for jackpot on any game we start after 10:00, and accordingly no one can win jackpot on those games. Tonight our post-10:00 game was Queenie Baseball, and wouldn’t you know, Ty Quan made a hand of four natural 5s. No jackpot! (It didn’t sting too much though, seeing as how jackpot had been decimated earlier.)

Most Enjoyable Card Night. Many new (to me) games since I was last in San Diego: PipDugi and DrawMaha were two that I’d never played before. But they are now part of my roster! And we had a few deals of Venerable Texas Hold’Em for good measure. Too bad it’s hard to find a card room in Texas to play!
