Ah, the Card Night buffoonery.
On a hand of Omaha Hi-Lo, it came down to Bill, Jeff, and Mary at the end.
Bill bet, and Jeff and Mary called.
Bill turned over his hand. “Trips,” he announced. Mary and Jeff mucked their cards.
After a couple of seconds, though, someone noticed, “Bill, you don’t have trips. You just have two pair.”
Bill looked down. Sure enough, just two pair. “Huh. What was I thinking?”
Then Jeff announced, “Oh, I had a higher two pair than that!”
And, because we have a very friendly game, Bill told Jeff he could retrieve his hand from the muck. Jeff did so, to reveal two pair lower than Bill’s. Bill scooped the pot.
Ah, the Card Night buffoonery.
On a hand of Buck ’em, with the pot at $20.25, Mark DeVol looked down at his hand on the three-cards-out-of-five round to find three glorious kings. When action got to him, he passed in hopes of dogging Bill who had gone in high on the previous two-cards-out-of-three round. Sure enough, when action got to Bill he went in high. Mark threw Bill his three kings and said, “Bill, you are not going to be happy about this.”
Bill sent Mark his three cards. Three natural aces.
Jackpot is now $12.00.
