Card Night 29-Dec-2016

Bill, Jerry, Chris and Mark DeVol all called December games tonight:

• Big O.  Just like Omaha Hi-Lo, but each player gets five hole cards.
• Blackjack Poker.  Seven-Card Stud where the player with the best blackjack hand (only using his hole cards) splits the pot with the person with the best poker hand.
• Six-Card Texas Hold’ em.  Everyone is dealt six cards to start.  After the initial betting round, every player divides his six cards into three two-card hands.  After the betting round on the flop, all players must discard one of their two-card hands.  After the betting round on the turn, all players must discard another one of their two-card hands.  Now all players just have two cards, and the game continues just like regular Texas Hold ’em.
• Queenie.  Rules are here.
• River of Blood.  Texas Hold ’em, but if the river is a red card, an additional card is dealt to the board, and there’s another betting round.  And if that one’s red, another additional card is dealt with another betting round.  And so on.  The board is complete once a black card has been dealt.
• Courchevel.  Like Big O (above), but the first card of the flop is dealt up before the first betting round.

Mark DeVol called three December games tonight:

• Criss-Cross Roll ’em.  A game we used to play every week.  Rules are here.
• Pigs in a Blanket.  A Seven-Card Stud game where the player with the best poker hand splits the pot with the player with the most middle pips.  A middle pip is defined as a suit icon that appears in the middle of a card.  Here are a list of all cards and the number of middle pips each has:

  Ace  - 1 middle pip
  2    - 2 middle pips
  3    - 3 middle pips
  4    - 0 middle pip
  5    - 1 middle pip
  6    - 0 middle pips
  7    - 1 middle pip
  8    - 2 middle pips
  9    - 1 middle pip
  10   - 2 middle pips
  Jack - 0 middle pips
  Queen- 0 middle pips
  King - 0 middle pips

• Low Holey Roll Your Own.  A Seven-Card Stud game where each player’s lowest hole-card is wild, and all like it.  All cards are initially dealt face down, and players decide which card they flip up to become their up-cards.

Card Night 08-Dec-2016

Miguel hit four deuces in Omaha Hi-Lo to win the fifth biggest jackpot payout in Card Night history: $87.00.  It pays to attend!

And jackpot is still fairly big sitting at $97.00.

Mark DeVol called three December games tonight:

• No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw.  Just like it sounds.  2-7 lowball, no-limit, with just one draw instead of three.
• No Peeky.  (Rules are here.)
• Five-Card Stud lowball unless someone makes a pair of jacks or better.  The game starts out lowball and continues as lowball unless a player ends up with a pair of jacks or better, then it becomes high only.  With five players tonight, jacks or better seemed to be a good cutoff point; about half of the hands stayed lowball, while the other half ended up high.  If we had more players, we’d probably need to raise it to at least kings or better to keep the high-low balance.
