Card Night 29-Jul-2008

Bill bore the brunt of the July juggernaut that is Paul Huyser.

Time and again, Paul would call Bill’s bets and raises, then spike some ridiculous card on the river to steal the pot.

On one Texas Hold ’em hand, Paul beat Bill with 9-2 offsuit.  Paul said, “I was hoping I didn’t hit a winning hand so I wouldn’t have to show my cards.”  Hey, Blog Fodder!  So that you’re not in that “awkward” situation again, why not just FOLD?

Violet’s husband Troy joined us tonight, filling the table with eight players.

Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Doug Davis threw six and two-thirds innings of perfect baseball against the Padres until Brian Giles hit a single off him.

This prompted “no-hitter” conversation amongst the group, and someone asked what was the longest no-hit game any Major League pitcher ever pitched.

Answer: Three pitchers have pitched 10-inning no-hit games (all in the National League):
