The seat closest to the door was empty tonight. A rack with $20 in chips sat waiting for its player to arrive. A blue card-cover chip featuring a photograph of a man wearing a silly red wig lay next to a name tag designating whose spot this was at the table.
Our good friend Warren passed away Friday. He was one of the original players at Card Night, and for many years he hosted the game at his house. He was one of the smartest people you’d ever meet, with a near encyclopedic knowledge of history and the English language.
We are all sad at his passing. He will be missed.
