Card Night 07-Aug-2012

On a hand of Omaha Hi-Lo, the flop came J♠-A♠-9♥.  Jason bet.  Mark DeVol, to his immediate left, raised.  Glen, Phil, and Jeff all folded.  Paul thought long and hard before finally, grudgingly folding.  Mary called.  Lyndon folded.

Jason re-raised, and Mark and Mary called.

The turn was the K♠.  Jason checked.  Mark bet, and Mary and Jason called.

The river was the 7♦.  Jason checked, Mark bet, Mary folded, and Jason called.

Mark turned over 3♠-2♠-x-x for the worst possible flush.  (Jason had flopped trip aces and never improved.)

It was a kill ($4-$8) so Mark scooped a big pot, to the dismay of the other players.  “He raised on the flop and won with the worst flush?”  Paul was especially upset, because he would have made the nut flush with his Q♠-6♠.

Paul was having a very bad night, having bought in for $180.00 and about to buy more.  Then he called $3-$6 Texas Hold ’em as the last game of the night.

In typical Paul fashion, he won seven of the eight hands he dealt, turning a potential $200 loss into a more palatable $71 loss (although he was still the big loser for the night).

On one of the hands, he got a bit of revenge against Mark:

The flop was K-10-4.  Paul had K-7 down, Mark had 10-10.

Paul bet, Mark raised, and Paul called.

The turn was another king.  Paul checked, Mark bet, and Paul called.

The river was Paul’s three-outer: a 7.  Paul now had kings full, while Mark had 10s full.  Paul bet, Mark called, and Paul scooped a big pot.

Phil won tonight, and Paul lost.  That puts Phil back on top for the year, up $525.00.

Mark D ‑$46.00
Mary ‑$17.00
Paul ‑$71.00
Phil +$41.00
Jeff +$25.00
Lyndon +$32.00
Jason ‑$55.00
Glen +$87.00

Jackpot is now $17.00.
