Card Night 19-Jan-2012

On a hand of Omaha Hi-Lo, the flop came A♥A♠Q♠.  Glen looked down at his hole cards to find A-Q-x-x.  He had flopped the nuts with aces full.  He bet and got several callers.

The turn was the J♠.  Glen bet again.  Now that low was no longer possible, everyone folded except Jeff.

The river was the 7♦.

Final board: A♥A♠Q♠J♠7♦.

This time Jeff came out betting.  Looked like he had hit a full house as well.  But Glen had the nut full house.  Glen raised.

Jeff re-raised.  Maybe they had the same hand?  Glen capped it.

Glen turned over his full house.

Jeff turned over K♠10♠ for a royal flush.

Jeff’s royal flush earned him everything in jackpot: $33.50.  It was the fourth royal in recorded Card Night history (three of them have been spade royals).

It’s the third time Jeff has won jackpot this year, a year in which we’ve only played three times.

Jeff has attended 64 Card Nights and he’s won jackpot nine times.  Compare that with Glen who has attended more than twice that many Card Nights and he’s won jackpot only five times.  Put another way, Jeff wins jackpot about once every seven times he attends Card Night, while Glen wins about once every 26 times.

Several hands following Jeff’s jackpot win, Lyndon made quad kings in Omaha Hi-Lo.  Lyndon’s jackpot payout: $1.75.

Jackpot now stands at $1.00, the smallest carry-over in Card Night history.

One final note:  Tonight probably marked the first time in the history of the world that a medallion given to the Dalai Lama was used as a card protector.

Mark D +$22.00
Mary ‑$17.00
Paul +$115.00
Phil +$94.00
Jeff ‑$3.00
Lyndon ‑$24.00
Mike S ‑$86.00
Glen ‑$81.00

Jackpot is now $1.00.
