Card Night 28-Jan-2020

Bill Connor deals a version of Seven-Card Stud where your lowest hole card is wild and all like it. When it comes time for the seventh card to be dealt, Bill gives you the option of taking the card up or down.

On one particular hand tonight, before the seventh card was dealt, Jeff had a pair of 4s in the hole, which under the rules of the game were both wild. As a result he had a straight flush. Without giving it much thought, he asked for his seventh card to be dealt face down.

It was a 3.

His 4s were no longer wild, only his single 3 was wild, and now all he had was a flush.

Luckily for him, it was still enough to win the hand.

How about the name “Seven Card Roll Your Own” for a moniker? It makes for a slow game since we have to make a decision for almost every new card dealt, and in the past I’ve picked the wrong card to keep down during the rush. Especially when someone (??) keeps on saying “Done” and “done” and “Done!”
