Card Night 20-Sep-2016

After the turn on a hand of Texas Hold ’em ($5-$10 due to a kill), the board was 7♠-8♠-9♠-x.  Bill had pocket aces (but not the ace of spades) and had been aggressively betting into the pot.  Mark DeVol was about to fold, but then realized he had a draw to a straight flush with the jack of spades.

The river was the 10 of spades, and Mark took down a nice pot along with a $31.25 jackpot.  After the hand, Chris said that he had folded the 6 of spades and would have also made a straight flush.  His fold turned out to be a good move, because the amount of the money he would have lost in the hand would have been more than the share of jackpot he would have split with Mark.

In the past, we have had a straight flush beat four of a kind, but we still have not had a straight flush beat a lower straight flush.
