Card Night 16-Sep-2014

On a hand of $3-$6 Stud 8, Jason completed with a 9 showing.  A 9?  He must have had trips, right?

Miguel, Jeff, and Mary made the call.

Fourth street gave Mary a pair of queens showing.  She bet.  Jason raised, and everyone called.

Fifth street gave Mary a third queen.  She bet.  Jason raised her again.  Jason didn’t have any kind of low showing, so it looked like he had three queens beat.  Maybe he already had a full house.  Miguel called; he looked like he had a flush or a straight.  Jeff re-raised; he was the only one that looked low.  Mary called.  Jason re-raised.  Miguel called.  Jeff capped it.  Everyone called.

Sixth street didn’t seem to change anything.  Jason and Jeff bet and raised each other until it was capped, with Miguel and Mary calling along the way.

The river came.  Mary checked.  Jason bet.  Miguel called.  Jeff raised.  Mary finally folded; she hadn’t improved to a full house or quads, and she knew she was beat by either a full house from Jason or a flush from Miguel.  Jason and Jeff capped it again, with Miguel calling.

Jason tabled a full house for high and Jeff tabled a 6-high for low.  Miguel did indeed have a flush that he wasn’t able to let go.

The pot totaled $295.00, with Jason and Jeff each getting $147.50.  It’s possibly the largest single pot in Card Night history.

Miguel suffered his worst Card Night ever (-$188.00), thanks in a large part to the Stud 8 hand above.  Previously his worst night had been on 11-Aug-2011 when he lost $82.00.

Mark D +$139.00
Mary ‑$69.00
Chris +$112.00
Jeff +$34.00
Jason +$16.00
Miguel ‑$188.00

Jackpot is now $19.00.

Nice (!!) to be in the history books, but I should’ve heeded the signs in the heavens: micro-bursts up to 50MPH were bringing down trees in the San Diego area last night and blocking the freeways out of downtown. They were all saying “Stay away from Stud-8”
