Card Night 21-Mar-2012

Mike Stefanidis kept winning and winning and winning…

When the smoke had cleared, Mike had set a new Card Night record winning $271.00.  (Previously the record was held by Paul who won $256.00 back on 19-Feb-2008.)

It was silly the way Mike kept winning.  Here’s an example.

On a hand of Omaha Hi-Lo, the river put a pair of 8s on the board, with no low possible.  Jeff bet, Mike called, and everyone else folded.  Jeff and Mike both had trip 8s.  But Mike won the hand… when his 6 kicker beat Jeff’s 5 kicker.  A 6 kicker!

That’s how it went all night.

And it’s not like Mike wasn’t already on fire.  Tonight was his seventh win in a row, and he’s now up $529.00 for 2012.  No one in the history of Card Night has ever had that high of a year-to-date total in March.

There were only six players tonight, so with Mike’s big win, there were bound to be casualties.

Jeff bore the brunt of it, losing exactly $200.00.  Needless to say it was his worse loss ever (beating his previous loss of $138.00 on 23-Jun-2011).  It’s the second time this year a player has lost $200 or more (Paul lost $204.00 on February 23), and the sixth time it has ever happened overall.

With our new higher limits (we played a lot of $2-$4 games with full kills), these sorts of totals might become commonplace.

Mark D +$25.00
Mary +$10.00
Paul ‑$82.00
Jeff ‑$200.00
Mike S +$271.00
Glen ‑$45.00

Jackpot is now $42.00.
