Card Night 03-Nov-2009

A lot of $2-$4 Texas Hold ’em resulted in bigger than usual wins and losses tonight.  Each player either won or lost at least $39.00.

Two players lost over $100, only the third time that’s ever happened.  (Note: All three occurrences have been in 2009.)

Paul won jackpot with a queen-high straight flush in Texas Hold ’em, then won jackpot again on the very next hand with four 7s.  We’ve had back-to-back jackpot wins before, but as far as we could remember, this is the first time we’ve had back-to-back jackpot wins by the same player.

During a hand of Omaha Hi-Lo, the board ended up 5-10-7-J-K rainbow.  Mike showed Mark DeVol and Paul his hand before folding, lamenting the fact that he had missed a flush draw and a nut-low draw.  Mike had failed to notice that he had A-Q in the hole, giving him the nuts: an ace-high straight.  Lyndon won the hand with a lower straight.

For showdown at the end of the night, Mark called five-card hi-lo split.  A split pot for showdown!  How exciting!  We here at Card Night are on the cutting edge!

Hey! Here’s some information about the joker in Buck ‘em!  For low, it’s completely wild!  For high, it can be used to complete a straight, flush, or straight flush; otherwise it’s an ace!

All this information and more can be found on the Poker Games page of the Card Night Web site!
